Saratoga Springboard and Franklin Community Center are excited to announce the details of the classes to be offered at Project Lift University, a unique fundraiser to benefit Franklin Community Center’s Project Lift. The event will be held at Longfellows Restaurant in Saratoga Springs on June 23, 2011, at 6:30 p.m.

In the spirit of learning and education, guests will be invited to return to their college registration days and “enroll” in exclusive classes taught by local experts.  While choosing and signing up for their favorite classes (classes to be held at a later date) guests will enjoy classic college food inspired hors d’oeuvres, drinks and music.

Classes that guests will have an opportunity to enroll in include:

Diamonds 101 (Frank Adams Jewelers) – An extensive and exciting hands-on diamonds class with a Graduate Gemologist from Frank Adams Jewlers.

Porsche 904 (D.Ball) – Spend an afternoon with an experienced PCA instructor/racer, and take a ride in an original 1956 Porsche Speedster, a one-of-a-kind 1956 Porsche 904 replica (all electric car, 256 HP), 2005 GT3 Cup Car, 2007 Porsche GTS-RS, and a 2010 Porsche Boxster.

Sailing on Lake George (B. Allen) – Sail away with . . . Saratoga Springboard and The Professor!  Don’t miss this opportunity to take out the ‘ol sailboat on majestic Lake George.  Our professor will provide instruction, tips and a one-of-a-kind amazing experience.  Ahoy Matiees!

1 of 46 (A. Arnold) – Have you always wanted to have an Adirondack hiking experience but you’re not quite sure where to start? Our talented guide will show you the ropes and help you conquer your first Adirondack High Peak!  One down . . . only 45 more to go!

Mindfulness on and off the Yoga Mat (Sweetwater Yoga) – Find a calming serenity within the confines of your own home.  Our professor, Jillian Deuel, is willing to travel and will come to your home or another favorite spot to school you in the art of mindfulness both on and off the yoga mat.  Take these invaluable lessons to heart and find peace in your home, work and family life.

Franklin Community Center Workshop (Franklin Community Center) – Saratoga Springs is full of civic minded community members . . . ever wonder how they become involved?  Join the Franklin Community Center team and see how they utilize the support of their community on a daily basis.  Sign up for a behind the scenes look at the inner workings of a social services not for profit organization – you’re sure to be enlightened!

Hattie’s 300 (Hattie’s Restaurant) – A private cooking class in your own own with Chef Jasper Alexander.  Chef Jasper, Executive Chef at Hattie’s Restaurant and an alumnus of the Culinary Institute of America, will be at your service!

Creating the Perfect Event (Longfellows Restaurant) – Do you want to be the hostess with the mostess?  Take our ‘Creating the Perfect Event’ course, brought to you by the amazing and talented professionals at Longfellows Restaurant!  With countless weddings, anniversaries, fundraisers, baby and bridal showers under their belts, the Longfellows team has truly mastered the art of event perfection!

Make Your House a Home (Beverly Tracy) – Enter the exciting world of interior design!  Learn techniques, rules and tricks to decorate your house!  Learn from Beverly Tracy, of Beverly Tracy Home Design and Witt Construction, as she shares her knowledge of the world of design.  Learn about current trends, the use of color, how to plan a room and determine what you need to fill it, how to select and measure for furniture and window treatments, and how to measure for rugs and lighting.  Then, get ready for “the tricks of the trade” as Beverly shares trade secrets about finding “the look” for less and making easy seasonal changes that will give your house a uniquely decorated look.  For extra credit, bring a picture and measurements of a challenging room in your house and participate in a hands on design project where you are the designer to decorate the room.  Visiting “Professor” John Witt will make a guest appearance during this class to share his knowledge and expertise on houses, layouts and exteriors.

Lanci’s Bolognese (Lanci’s) – Always stuck in the kitchen? Make the most of it!  The amazing people responsible for Lanci’s Italian restaurant will be teaching you how to make Bolognese from their very own family recipe!  The course won’t disappoint, and is slated to include a few culinary surprises.

Eco-Minded Floral Design (Heavenscent Floral Art) – A class taught by Jordan Baker, owner of eco-friendly Heavenscent Floral Art. Using flowers, vine, berries and leaves from local flower farms, Jordan will teach students how to create a beautiful Fall inspired flower arrangement.

Color Your World (L. Samu) - Lucianna Samu believes every great design story begins, and ends, with color.  Honing her uniquely instinctive color and design skills while collaborating with a noteworthy client base of elite interior designers and architects, her mentors are proud of her long list of design accomplishments.  A two time winner of the national sub-zero wolf kitchen design contest, author of three books, Lu’s pursuit of design excellence is ignited first and finally, by her love of paint and color.  While her evolving client base is fertile ground for combining her unique brand of color wizardry with relaxed design, her current to-do list also includes, a monthly column in Life@home magazine, and her own blog, www.reallyathome.com,  Don’t miss your chance to learn from a nationally recognized expert!

Coffee Tasting (Cupcake Lab) – What gets your motor running in the morning?  Could it be a nice hot cup’o’joe?!  Find out what you’ve been missing with your trusty old brew when you take our Coffee Tasting class provided by the Cupcake Lab.  Learn from the experts what flavors and aromas you prefer.

Cakes 101 – Your Guide to Frosting and Fondant – Cake Boss . . . Cake Wars . . .  Cake . . . YOU!  Be the next big hit at your party with the skills you’ll learn in Cakes 101, Your Guide to Frosting and Fondant.  Learn how to create masterpieces your friends and family will be drooling over.  Sign up for this class and be the belle of the birthday ball!!

Aroma Bird Lotions and Baby Food (Robyn Otto Colonell) – Don’t miss your chance to provide for your newest arrival the best way you can!  Join our talented professors and learn how to be at your best for baby!  Learn how to make baby food, baby lotions and baby hygiene items in the comfort of your own home.  You know what’s best for your baby, now learn all of the insider tricks!

Drawing 101 (D. Bender) – You’ll be taught by our master professor, David Bender of David M. Bender Studios! Your classroom? One of Saratoga’s most treasured spaces — Yaddo!  Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to immerse yourself in creative energy and find your inner artist!

The Wonderful World of Orchids (D. Wardlaw) – Enjoy this introduction to orchids course complete with a demonstration of orchid culture and habitat, and a tour of an indoor/outdoor collection of several hundred orchids.  This helpful tutorial will enable you to beautify your home and garden with the presences of timeless orchids.

    Hi Cathy! Class enrollment will be offered at Project Lift University, a unique fundraiser to benefit Franklin Community Center’s Project Lift. The event will be held at Longfellows Restaurant in Saratoga Springs on June 23, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. While at the event, guests will enjoy food, drinks, music, silent auction and more, and have a chance to register for their favorite class (classes will be held at a later date).
